History of the Souris Valley Theatre Inc.

The Souris Valley Theatre Inc. was started in 1990 as a non profit professional summer theatre. It has grown from an outdoor venue, to a tent and now to a permanent facility, Frehlick Hall. Local businesses and residents have supported the theatre with donations of time, services and monetarily. This venue has provided the residents of Estevan and area an opportunity to attend professional live theatre. The theatre draws audiences from across North America and overseas and is a well known part of Estevan's tourist attractions. Each year we try to improve some aspect of the theatre. In 2006 a major project was initiated by the Estevan Rotary Club which resulted in the addition of a multi-purpose building. This building houses a concession, rush ticket office, storage room and spacious washrooms. In 2007 we were fortunate to receive theatre seats from the Conexus Arts Centre and with their installation, we have added to the comfort of our audiences and provided continuity of seating in the theatre. 2008 saw the addition of much needed outdoor lighting and the installation of a cement walkway. With this work being done, we now need to look at the landscaping. This will be one of the projects we undertake for 2009.
